The goal of this project was to create an ad campaign that merges an existing brand's products within the works of an artist. In this series, I explored the juxtaposition of new and old by incorporating modern-day Beats headphones into various paintings of Impressionist, Edgar Degas.

I started by selecting three Degas paintings that would work together as a cohesive campaign story. My goal was to portray different subjects using Beats in their daily lives, from an everyday person going about their day to a performer getting ready for the big stage. I decided that I wanted to use a couple of lesser-known paintings alongside the more recognizable ballerina in order to showcase Degas’ range.
Each painting was cropped to ensure that there was only one subject in the image. Using layering masks, I extracted the headphones from their original photos and integrated them into a composite image with the paintings. I then used filters on the headphones to give them more of an oil painting/blurred effect. I added copy text to the upper left-hand corner of each ad, each one having a call to action that related to the person in the painting. Each ad can stand alone or be viewed as a series because of the continuity in formatting.
